Welcome to the web site for EarAngel – the digital noise limiter.

This web site deals with some of the issues and solutions surrounding the new Health & Safety, Noise Directive legislation that will have a particular impact on many of the Call Centre industry's biggest Employers.

The ever-increasing health concerns involving hearing impairment have been, and continue to be, an issue for a wide range of Organisations, including the Health and Safety Executive, the Trades Union Congress, the Royal National Institute for Deaf People and the Call Centre Management Association, as well as many large Employers within the Call Centre sector.

EarAngel has been designed to assist Employers in complying with the current and forthcoming UK and EC Directives (2006) for Noise Protection.

The new more stringent law will mean even stricter levels for noise reaching telephony headset wearers at the point of the ear. Employees can be at risk of hearing damage in a number of different ways including Acoustic Shock, a debilitating injury caused by sudden or prolonged exposure to a high volume noise over the telephone.

Acoustic shock has been described by the TUC as the “industrial injury of the 21st century”.

You can find out more on this site about the risks associated with Acoustic Shock, compensation claims by Employees, the new legislation and the steps you should take to protect your Employees from the risks of hearing damage.
